Frustrations

Patients are not the only ones that get frustrated when it comes to the current mental health system and traditional treatment methods. Medical professionals have the same limitations when trying to reach more people to help.

When you subscribe to our services you receive our virtual reality kit by post along with instructions on how to proceed. You can then download our phone app and create your account. When creating your account you will be prompted to fill up a form with your specialty so that patients can find you easier. The next step is the avatar creation. The avatar will be your virtual world persona and how you and your patients will see you.

You are almost done! Now you can use your phone to access a large network of patients from across the entire country and even internationally in the future. They can see you and your credentials and you can see them as anonymous avatars and their conditions. You can advertise your services to the ones you feel you can help and the patients can then look to acquire your services. People seeking help will provide enough information through a questionnaire in order for you to be able to reach an adequate diagnosis.

You will then be notified if anyone has contacted you and you can even set a preliminary meeting in the virtual environment to talk about how you can proceed from there. Using virtual reality you will have a much larger degree of control over the treatment environment and also you will be able to build trust much faster with the patient since there is no longer the intimidating factor of meeting a stranger face-to-face.

Your practice, your hours! Working from home can be a much more flexible experience giving you and your patients the option to set up appointments at hours that would otherwise be inconvenient in an office building environment. With the ability to reach a much bigger demographic with ease, schedule and perform therapy sessions from the comfort of your own home and have better tools for more reliable treatment, we believe virtual reality can elevate your practice to the next level.

But why use

virtual reality at all?

Doctor using the internet and a laptop to talk to someone online

You may ask yourself why go trough all this "trouble" when you could just schedule a zoom meeting or just any online video interaction? Surely you can't go wrong with that? But there is fact a world of difference between a webcam interaction on the web and a meeting in a virtual environment. In fact recent data shows that despite more phone numbers being available for people seeking help as well as an online medium being set up during the pandemic, less people are actually seeking treatment with this method.

Numerous trials have already shown how virtual reality can better help with most mental health conditions including but not limited to PTSD, severe anxiety disorders, depression and even problems like substance abuse and eating disorders. Not to mention arachnophobia, acrophobia, social phobia, agoraphobia, claustrophobia, or any other phobic disorder can immensely benefit from a virtual environment where you can control the level of the realism for the patient to gradually and safely get used to it.

Anxiety disorders such as social anxiety, fear of speaking, fear of public places, social interaction, etc. can be treated to a much larger effect in an environment which gradually lets a patient experience their triggers while also giving them a feeling of safety since the treatment is happening in a virtual world and not in vivo. Patients can now treat their struggles with a personalized therapeutic treatment created by a therapist in order to more easily confront their problems. Virtual reality will make everything feel a lot less uncomfortable than the real life alternative.

When dealing with phobias, virtual reality also has a huge advantage. The absolute assurance that nothing can go wrong and there is no actual danger can help the patient try their best, where as with traditional treatment they would be constantly on edge thinking somethin wrong might happen. Research shows that given the choice people would rather receive virtual reality exposure treatment as an alternative to traditional methods.

PTSD treatment must always be handled with care. Revealing and treating trauma is never easy and it might involve taking the patient to the familiar place that that caused it or interact with the specific environment, object, person, etc. which triggered their condition in the first place. With virtual reality the therapist can have absolute control over the situation and more easily gain the trust of the patient. Safely identifying possible triggers hidden deep inside the patient's mind can only be possible with the flexibility that only virtual reality can offer.
